Last weekend Mum moved into the Shelley St Village, a council housing complex for senior citizens. From making her decision to moving in last weekend took less than a month. Amazing.
On the day of the move it was windy and drizzly. Rose, Clive and I drove up the night before, and press-ganged my good mate Alan and his wife Karen (and Alan's brother's ute) to help.
There had been lots of rain and the lawns in the village were waterlogged.
So my mate Alan and I ploughed them up with the truck! Oops, ever so sorry!
Brenda had been with Mum a couple of days and when we arrived on move-morning, the kitchen and nick-knacks were already set up. Mum had treated herslf to a new fridge and a new bedroom tallboy. He was a bit quiet and wooden although he had big drawers and knobs.
So our move was over bar the shouting by lunchtime. So then Clive shouted me at the bar before lunchtime!
Irene and Alan called; Alan did some repairs to furniture and I hooked up the washing machine.
That evening we all went for dinner at the Bureta. Nice evening with 10 of us, and Mum lasted well. Good tucker.
Next day, I took a few pix and movie clips so you could see what the place is like. It was a fine warm day.
Wait for the movie to load....turn up your sound for the heavy breathing and the occasional familiar voice...

Today I spoke to Mum on the phone. Barney the cat is still AWOL. Otherwise Mum sounds better than I've heard her for years. I think the warm little unit agrees with her, and she has already been getting to know the locals!
The movie above is pretty compressed. If you want the real thing, let me know, its 14Mb in size so I don't want to email it. When I get Clive's photos, I'll post some of them too. I can make and post you a CD of them all if you like. eMail me.
